The purpose of an Asia Threads project is to:

• obtain pictures of a child location site (as stated in the child's adoption papers and/or other information the family has already obtained (i.e., child progress report, finding ad, police report, etc.; delivery of letters, pictures & artwork to the orphanages.
• obtain a map pinpointing the site as closely as possible
• obtain and provide families with 50-55 hard copy pictures and a CD containing those pictures of the cities/towns/villages where project participating children were found (also available on DVD for an additional charge),
child was found,
• provide families with the option to purchase a CD of pictures taken in their child's Provincial Capital City (most likely, the city where notary paperwork was completed at the time of adoption),
• provide families with the option to submit a limited number of pictures and a piece of the child's artwork to be delivered to the orphanage,
• (under conditions specified by Asia Threads) to provide families with the option to submit one letter for translation and delivery to their child's orphanage. If the family chooses, in this letter, they may request that the orphanage share the photos and/or letter with a child's foster family. It will be at the orphanage director's discretion to actually do so. A separate letter addressed directly to a foster family is not allowed.


Requests for pictures of an individual who found a child and/or foster parents/caregivers are not allowed. Questions/requests relating to people or events which took place prior to, or during the time of, a child's stay in the orphanage or foster care are not allowed. Asia Threads does not provide 'finding ads' but can recommend ways to obtain them. Please e-mail Asia Threads for more information.

For clarification of the following paragraphs:
* 'Orphanage City' is defined here as the city where an orphanage is located.
*For some projects, all children will have been found in the Orphanage City and the need to visit small towns/rural villages will be nonexistent. For other projects, children will have been found in many small towns/rural villages outside of the orphanage city, thus, the number of pictures that will be taken will dramatically increase. For these reasons, the number of pictures taken in any given project is not known until the project's conclusion. Asia Threads guarantees that 50-55 hard copy reprints will be given to each participating family – those same pictures plus any other non-private pictures taken in an orphanage city will be on the Orphanage City CD, but will not guarantee that the orphanage city CD will contain more than that number. It is important to note, however, that many Orphanage City CDs contain pictures exceeding that range.
